At School of Little Swimmers, we focus on helping children develop independent swimming skills and strong water safety foundations.
Flotation devices such as arm floaties can:
Encourage an upright body position, which is not ideal for swimming
Limit natural movement and skill development
Create reliance on flotation rather than building true confidence in the water
Instead, we focus on:
Developing natural buoyancy
Building confidence and independence
Teaching correct body position and technique
Gradual, supported skill progression
This approach supports stronger swimming skills and improved long-term water safety.

Every child progresses at their own pace. Consistent, year-round swimming lessons help build water safety, confidence, and essential life skills.
The more time a child spends in the water, the faster they learn, the more confident they become, and the quicker they build endurance. We recommend giving your child as much exposure to swimming as possible outside of lesson time, where appropriate.

Every child is unique, and we aim to support students within a mainstream group learning environment wherever possible.
Depending on your child’s individual needs, we may recommend:
Private swimming lessons
Smaller group swimming lessons
Gradual transitions
Parent participation (where appropriate)
Shorter lesson durations (where appropriate)
Pre-lesson visits to familiarise with the environment
Clear and consistent routines
Swimming lessons involve a number of safety considerations, and there are many elements involved in keeping all swimmers safe. For this reason, in some cases, a group class may not be the most suitable starting point.
As our program is designed for a mainstream learning environment, there may be situations where we are unable to safely accommodate a child’s individual needs within our group classes.
Our team is not specifically qualified to support all additional needs; however, we are happy to discuss your child’s requirements and help determine whether our program is the right fit.
Our priority is always safety, positive learning experiences, and setting every child up for success.
Please contact us to discuss your child's needs.

Each level at School of Little Swimmers has specific skills that students work towards. These skills are visible in the Customer Portal, allowing families to track progress.
Students are assessed during scheduled evaluation weeks, which occur periodically throughout the year. Families are notified in advance when evaluations are taking place.
Following the evaluation period, results are updated in the Customer Portal, and students may graduate to the next level when they have demonstrated the required skills.
If further development is recommended, students will continue working on their skills with guidance from their teacher.
